A few months ago I blogged about cap toe shoes , saying they're going to be the hot new thing, and they're amazing and here's why. Then I didn't hear anything about them for a while, and I thought maybe I was the only one in love with them. Then last week I was on Twitter , taking part in the #stylechat with Style Caster , and the topic of conversation turned to shoes, and the cap toe trend, which has suddenly made its way from the designer's stores and into the mainstream, and now everyone wants them. Madonna in Dior Celebrities are generally looked to as being trend setters or shining examples of what not to wear. Few have managed to land on both of these lists (sometimes simultaneously) than Madonna . Her empire reaches far and wide, and she's now joining the long list of celebs who are calling themselves shoe designers. Madonna already has the successful Material Girl collection, but she's branching into adults accessories, fragrance, lingerie and shoes with Truth or Dare , which will again be available at Macy's .  I will shamelessly admit I have already mentally committed to getting this collection, and I'm not sure they've even started designing yet. When I was a kid I loved Barbie. Big surprise, right? The girl obsessed with fashion and heels loves the doll who has more clothes than anyone and feet that are eternally ready for skyscraper heels.  As I grew older I didn't really grow out of Barbie and much as I grew up with her. She can do anything. Astronaut, president, teacher, rock star, and finally (in the form of the Mad Men dolls ) they release Marketing Barbie. To which all of my friends respond, "I thought you already were Marketing Barbie." I can only dream, and they mock me.  My personal collection of Barbie dolls is actually lacking, despite my love of the doll. I occasionally stalk the Barbie Collector website and make mental notes of dolls I want, and may never obtain, and continue to envy Barbie's fashion and her relationship with designers such as Bob Mackie , Chanel , Jonathan Adler (even her furniture is designer) and now, Christian Louboutin . I have to admit, that ever since Madonna rocked a pair of black Chanel peep toes with handgun heels to the premier of " Filth and Wisdom ", I've been smitten with the idea of having my own pair. Activists railed against her for the shoes, saying they promote the use of handguns and blah, blah, blah...It's fashion people. Sometimes fashion is not making political statements. And I'm pretty sure that Karl Lagerfeld was focusing on the fact that they look good and are art in the form of a shoe, as opposed to having Chanel make a political statement on handguns or gun violence. After spending months obsessing over these shoes, this weekend I found my own pair of handgun shoes. They're silver sandals with bullet belt style straps across the toe and ankle by Pleaser Shoes .
