Caftans and Fabulousness Coming to Zappos

In a turn of events that I didn’t see coming (then again I don't follow the career trajectory of anyone), Andre Leon Talley has been brought on to Zappos as creative director for their high-end Zappos Couture line. These Kate Spade heels are available at Zappos.  Andre will be working with the brand on fashion shoots, choosing and highlighting brands and trends, and generally making everything high-end at Zappos that much more amazing. Seriously, everything that man touches turns to gold.  Zappos Couture already has a broad list of designer vendors — such as  Gucci , Prada, Fendi, Lanvin, Cartier and  Dolce & Gabbana  — but many only sell shoes or licensed products like  eyewear  and fragrances on the site. Its three largest vendors are Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and  Salvatore Ferragamo . Zappos' goal is to expand into a wider range of merchandise, particularly apparel, and of course there will be shoes. I know Z...

Kate Spade Goes Gilt

I have spent most of my life being rather adverse to preppy things. Never one to rock sweater sets and pearls (unless it was in an ironic way), my fashion has always been a little off center.  Because of that there have always been certain designers that I have shied away from. I'm oddly obsessed with this bag.  Recently though I find myself revisiting some of those who I had shrugged off , maybe it’s age, maybe it’s the designers that are getting less preppy, or maybe we’re meeting somewhere in the middle. Kate Spade , always preppy in my view, has recently been releasing some really interesting looks, both in handbags, as well as clothing and jewelry, which is why I’m excited about the Kate Spade New York event on Gilt , which starts tomorrow ( May 22 ). Every four weeks Gilt members ( and we’re all members , right?) will get first access to the new Kate Spade New York collection before it’s available anywhere else. Even better, a bunch of stuff will be ...

Seeing Through Heels

Once only for strippers, lucite heels have come down from the pole, shortened their heels, and teamed up with some amazing leathers and textures and pranced right into the mainstream. My favorite lucite heel this season I actually bought a pair of lucite heels from Aldo a few years ago, and still love them. They're a gray smokey heel with red metallic leather. Aside from the fact that they're metallic red, they always attracted attention for having a lucite heel that didn't look like it is paired best with a thong. This spring lucite is going to be everywhere. Already popping up from brands like Miista , Via Spiga , Casadi , Kate Spade and Sigerson Morrison  you can see them in everything from heels to wedges and in a variety of colors and shapes. Rose colored wedges from Via Spiga My favorite (aside from the ones I own) is the Tara from Miista. The heel looks like cut glass, and has blue and yellow in it, and collects and reflects colors like a prisim. The ...

Mom Loves Kate Spade Keds

Who doesn't have amazing memories of Keds ? Those fabulous white canvas shoes that were never quite right after your mom put them in the washing machine. Eventually they came in other colors so that they hid dirt better. I remember being so jealous of a kid in my third grade class with a pair of black, multi-colored leopard slide on Keds . Then I moved on with my life, found heels, and the rest is history (or something). But if Keds are still your thing, but you want them to be a little classier than multi-colored leopard, Kate Spade has a line of Keds coming out. Which means nothing to me, but when I posted something to Facebook about not wearing Kate Spade Keds because I'm not in middle school anymore, my phone rang almost immediately. It was my mother. These are going to be all over the country club. Mom: "What's wrong with Keds? Some of these are really cute." Me: "I'm sure they are, but it's not really my style." Mom: ...

Kate Spade on Gilt - Just in Time for the Holidays

If you're looking for a fab gift for your mom or sister, want to give a not-so-subtle hint to your significant other, or want to treat yourself, there's a hell of a Kate Spade  sale on Gilt today starting at 11:00 am.  Everyone needs a new bag Dresses, jewelry, bags, and (of course) shoes, all hundreds of dollars off their original price.  Hundreds. As in save three digits. How can you pass that up?  I'm personally already obsessing over a couple bags. The Chambers Street Carlyle Satchel - $169 (original $368) and the Mansfilled Liv Satchel - $239 (original $428). When it comes to shoes, I'm drooling over the leopard print Devon Satin Pump -$135 (original $298). Shoes galore The dresses and jewelry are to die for too. Even if you're not the biggest Kate Spade fan in the world, but there's something here for everyone. Some of the items are even hand-picked by Deborah Loyd, president and creative director of Kate Spade. So set the alarms on ...
