Gilt Loves Glamour and Shoes

A new shoe collaboration has been unleashed, and you better act fast because it's only here for a little bit. Haydee Oxford Gilt.com and Glamour magazine teamed up to bring a new capsule collection, Gilt Hearts Glamour . The 9-piece collection is affordably priced from $79-$129, and has everything from pumps to flats and booties available in a variety of colors and textures. "We wanted to translate the key fall trends in a way that was both stylish and wearable," said Christina Perez, Glamour's fashion development editor. "We worked with a variety of shapes, materials and colors to ensure there was something chic for everyone-no matter their style personality. That was important to us since so many different types of women read Glamour. We felt the synergies between the Gilt customer and the Glamour reader made Fabiola platform pump Gilt and ideal partner for this project." Hello Lover - SJP Shoes Debut at Nordstrom

"Hello lover." The Diana pump is a must-have.  It's perhaps my favorite line ever uttered on Sex in the City, and it was to a pair of shoes. It's the line that summed up one woman's obsession with footwear and that runs through my head every time I see that "oh my god, can't live without them" pair of heels. Which is like every time I go shopping. Now, Sarah Jessica Parker has channeled her inner Carrie Bradshaw and her own love of shoes, and Nordstrom . released a line of shoes and handbags, appropriately titled SJP. And, while we all knew this was coming, now they're actually available at Sarah Jessica Parker made a stop at the Nordstrom across the street from my office on Friday, but due to the fact that I'm 36 weeks pregnant with twins, and haven't seen my feet in over a month (plus the swelling, not being able to walk a block, and so on), I had to skip my chance to meet her and the opportunity to try on the shoes. No poi...

Gwen Dazzles with GX at ShoeDazzle

Gwen Stefani spent the last decade going from rock star to style icon and rock star. Plus she married Gavin Rossdale and had a couple of cute kids, including the one she's currently pregnant with. I'm obsessed with the red boots.  I'm trying to figure out how we can become friends so we can have playdates with her new baby and my twins. Then we can talk fashion and diapers, and with the new line she has just launched with ShoeDazzle , Gwen sure has a lot going on. GX is the first collaboration between ShoeDazzle and Gwen Stefani, and features shoes and handbags in black, red, white and cobalt blue. This works out really well for me because those four colors make up 90% of my wardrobe. The shoes have some great diversity between sleek pumps with small island platforms and single soles, sky high wedge sandals, and some great bootie styles. When it comes to handbags, there are more square, structured styles, and the same basic but bold colors. They're all pret...

A Cut Above

Trends come and go, and sometimes there’s that trend that creeps in all slow and quiet, and before long it’s a standard wardrobe staple. Enter the laser cut detail on shoes. Sam Edelman sandals get it right. These delicate designs crept into stores en mass this spring, and have managed to just quietly stick around. There were few declarations of this as a trend, or the “must have” shoe of the summer, but they were there. Now with summer sliding out (yes, it’s almost back to school time), laser cut detail is seamless sliding into fall with nary a whisper. Kind of like nude shoes just showed up one day and never quite went away. The great thing about laser cut details is they come on every kind of shoe, and in every style and color imaginable. If you want a pump, kitten heel, boot, oxford, flat (pointy and ballet)…they’re all available at your fingertips (assuming you shop online as much as I do). Oxblood and the Color of the Season

Oxblood is the “it” color of the season. Or maybe it’s red. How about crimson? Or Rouge? Or…. Or who really gives a shit? The important thing is that red shoes are finally easy to find again. Emerson Fry dream heels Seriously, this was once an issue. I had one pair of red shoes. They were a pointed toe pump with a double strap from Chinese Laundry and I wore them to death. Their death anyway. I wore them until the leather straps threatened to snap and the soles were wearing thin. I even bought red shoe polish so I could cover the scuffs on them. When they finally died, I mourned and spent years looking for the right red shoes. Finally I found a couple pair, though nothing that quite took the place of that original pair. This week my sister decided to ask for my assistance in finding a pair of oxblood pumps. She fell in love with a pair from Emerson Fry , and was looking for something comparable that’s a little less than $200. Lucky for her this is the season ...

The Black Pump Problem

It's well known that I keep a couple pairs of shoes at the office. And by a couple, I mean a drawer full. So it's never really a surprise when I'm looking for a pair of heels and it turns out they're in my filing cabinet and not any of the 100 different places scattered about my house. Sometimes that can be a problem though. Like when I was packing for a business trip the nigh before I left and realized I left my black pumps at the office. I posted a Facebook message about it, and my mom (who loves to tease me via comments) said, "You have ONE pair of black pumps-no I don't think so." Well, she's right and wrong, and my black pumps made me have a total meltdown in Nordstrom last week where I tried on a ton of heels and then decided they were all kind of like something I owned, and instead bought nothing. These were left in a drawer. Ironically, I now also have buyers remorse over one pair. In the sense that I didn't buy them. My bla...
