Seeing Through Heels

Once only for strippers, lucite heels have come down from the pole, shortened their heels, and teamed up with some amazing leathers and textures and pranced right into the mainstream. My favorite lucite heel this season I actually bought a pair of lucite heels from Aldo a few years ago, and still love them. They're a gray smokey heel with red metallic leather. Aside from the fact that they're metallic red, they always attracted attention for having a lucite heel that didn't look like it is paired best with a thong. This spring lucite is going to be everywhere. Already popping up from brands like Miista , Via Spiga , Casadi , Kate Spade and Sigerson Morrison  you can see them in everything from heels to wedges and in a variety of colors and shapes. Rose colored wedges from Via Spiga My favorite (aside from the ones I own) is the Tara from Miista. The heel looks like cut glass, and has blue and yellow in it, and collects and reflects colors like a prisim. The ...

Night Clubbing

Dance clubs are great places to people watch. You can see all kinds of degenerate behavior, rhythmless people, failed pickups, and of course, all the crazy clothes. They're not all bad, but not for the nightlife. Also prevalent this weekend: flats. I apparently missed when it became OK to wear flats out to clubs and bars. I mean, girls always dressed like idiots and maniacs (myself included), but it somehow looks less stupid when paired with a nice pair of heels. Everywhere I turned they were there. Flats. ballet pumps, peep toes, garish bows, and plain old boring flats that weren't even worth noticing. The worst was when they were paired with mini skirts. I wish I had my camera to document some of these atrocities. Maybe I could have done some people a favor by posting photos of their hideous wardrobe mistakes. A tip to the girl in the sequin mini; next time don't pair it with a t-shirt (pretty sure there was a unicorn or panda or some such shit on it), open to...

Missing Jeffrey

I get a lot of emails about shoes. Emails from my sisters, friends, from stores, from people posting stuff on Facebook , my mom...you name it, someone is sending me pictures of shoes. (Like I can wear a picture). Today my younger sister, Figgy, sent me an email. "I've found the perfect bootie (for me anyway). Google Jeffrey Campbell's Lita shoe. Obviously in Black." I wanted to throw one of my size 7 dagger heels at her. They're all so beautiful... For the past week we have trying to make plans to meet up to go to Akira . My sole purpose of going was for these shoes. That's it. They're my obsession recently. It's unhealthy. I've Googled them every day and looked at every color and texture, prioritizing which ones I need vs. which ones I want. Weighing the practicality of each color and scanning my wardrobe to see what they would match. A friend in New York was posting photos of them to Cat in Heels on Facebook , taunting me with mu...
