Flowers are Popping Up for Spring

Spring brings another round of trends, and with warmer weather on the horizon (keep your fingers crossed Chicago), we're actually going to put away the dark colors, start to show a little skin, and bring some happy, brightness into daily outfits. These Brian Atwood heels bring floral to a new level If you're anything like me though, you really don't own a lot of color, and if you do it's dark. I have dark hair and pale skin with pink undertones, so neon makes me look extra pale, pastels are touch and go, and yellow makes me look like I have jaundice. Really the only "happy color" I can wear is blue because it matches my eyes. Luckily, shoes come to the rescue, and you can add a touch of spring and summer, as well as a dash of color with florals. Big last year, they'er even bigger this year. Sometimes literally as 3-D flowers have been popping up on the front, back sides, and sometimes even the heels of shoes. If you're not quite ready ...

Feeling Green

As I'm sure everyone knows by now, Pantone has declared Emerald the color for 2013. The exact color is Pantone 17-5641, for those of you geeky enough to want the exact Pantone code. I'm sure if you need RGB and PMS codes those are available as well, but when it comes to fashion, the only thing you need to know is that this year it's all about emerald. Green velvet from Mod Cloth.  The nice thing about emerald is that it looks good on almost everyone. It's a bright, vibrant green that can bring out the most positive features. It's also an amazingly easy color to incorporate into your existing wardrobe. Green accessories can be paired with a variety of colors, and can provide that perfect pop of color. Green shoes can also count as an accessory, and can be the perfect pairing with the florals that will be popping up this spring, or provide a splash of color to the basic black and white that's so popular right now. If shoes are your thing (and since y...

Digging Though Gilt

Like my closet, but bigger. Last night I got an advance sneak peek into the Gilt City Raid the Warehouse sale in Chicago, and it was overwhelming. That's putting it mildly. I was escorted into the Museum of Contemporary Art Warehouse by a gentleman in a suit, and after walking up a ramp was suddenly standing in line. There's always a line. After checking my coat and bag I walked up a very warehouse set of concrete steps, and into a room filled with Vita Coco , champagne, Popchips , Benefit Cosmetics and other vendors. After getting a glass of champagne I turned the corner and was faced with tables and tables of shoes. Pretty sure I heard angels singing. I headed straight for the size 7 section and started digging through boxes and boxes of shoes. Around me women were in a frenzy, pulling on Hunters , Ted Baker boots, and heels galore. I started sifting through boxes and found a few things I liked. One was a pair of cork heels (until I already realized I have ...

Cap Toe is a Fall Must-Have

A few months ago I blogged about cap toe shoes , saying they're going to be the hot new thing, and they're amazing and here's why. Then I didn't hear anything about them for a while, and I thought maybe I was the only one in love with them. Then last week I was on Twitter , taking part in the #stylechat with Style Caster , and the topic of conversation turned to shoes, and the cap toe trend, which has suddenly made its way from the designer's stores and into the mainstream, and now everyone wants them. I had quite a few questions about them, including where to find them (which is now almost anywhere). As promised to the fabulous people on #stylechat , following are a few cap toe heels that are fabulous, available, and at varying price points, so there's no excuse to go into Fall without them. ShoeDazzle At $39.95, ShoeDazzle probably has the best deal on a metallic cap toe. The "Ann" heel, which was released just a few days ago, comes in a ...

Celebrity Shoes

I decided I should have my own shoe line. I mean why not? I like shoes, probably know more about them than a lot of women, have some great design ideas...all good things if you're going to start a shoe line. Who'd have thought this guy would make women's shoes? Oh, then there's also the fact the apparently now anyone can design shoes. Halle Berry has joined the long (and ever growing) list of celebs who has a shoe line. She will be "designing" 40 pairs of limited edition shoes for Deichmann , which will launch next month in the UK. Many others preceded her, some with their own brand, including Carlos Santana (love the shoes but does that even make sense?), Fergie (she actually wears her own line), Madonna (will never wear her own line), Jessica Simpson (better at fashion than singing), Cindy Crawford (also designed for Deichmann ), Kanye West (I wish I was kidding), Gwen Stefani (we all love L.A.M.B. ) and a bunch of celebs who designed shoes fo...
