Cat in Heels

I would like to be a celebrity because they get to do whatever they want. I don't mean that in an Amanda Bynes, bad wigs and bong tossing kind of way (though that If this is what we can expect, I'm sold. doesn't seem to be working out well for her), or even the more philanthropic Angelina Jolie saving babies kind of way (because seriously, what would I do with that many kids?). I mean it in the "why can't I team up with an established company and be a designer?" kind of way. Sarah Jessica Parker is the most recent celebrity to announce she is launching her own line of shoes, bags and coats. She's teaming up with George Malkemu, CEO of Manolo Blahnik , and launching the collection, appropriately named "SJP." The collection will be available exclusively at Nordstrom (because apparently Macy's is for Madonna's stuff), and will also include bags and a few coats. I just got back from a business trip to San Francisco that culminated in a shopping spree of epic proportions. I wrote about the beginning in Shopping in San Fran - Part 1 . Now the story continues.... As Esther and I headed out we both had that adrenaline rush that can only come from knowing you're going to find something amazing. That rush when you're determined to find something amazing. We burst into  Ross and headed straight for the shoes. Within in a matter of minutes Esther's arms were full of heels and we had to hunt down a basket. Every aisle we went into held a new and more wonderful heeled surprise. Vince Camuto , Jessica Simpson , Chinese Laundry , Sam Edelman , Dollhouse , Carlos , Dolce Vita , and the list goes on. I decided I should have my own shoe line. I mean why not? I like shoes, probably know more about them than a lot of women, have some great design ideas...all good things if you're going to start a shoe line. Who'd have thought this guy would make women's shoes? Oh, then there's also the fact the apparently now anyone can design shoes. Halle Berry has joined the long (and ever growing) list of celebs who has a shoe line. She will be "designing" 40 pairs of limited edition shoes for Deichmann , which will launch next month in the UK.
