Cat in Heels

I love fashion and fashion shows, and Cheeky Chicago put on a great one with the Real People of Style event Thursday night at the 900 North Shops. I met my husband downtown after work and we headed over together, which involved pushing through tourists and him explaining his outfit choice to me, and pointing out he was wearing his reheeled pony hair shoes. These were the shoe winners for the night. I assured him that as long as he had good shoes on, I didn’t really care. We did some people watching before going in, which is always amusing for those who live in the city. Dear Husband was a lifelong South Sider up until we got married and he moved North (and if you don’t live in Chicago that means nothing to you). Either way, if you live in the city you never go downtown unless you work there or you’re shopping (and even then it’s a last resort). As we wandered through the 900 North Shops and dear husband told me how wonderful I would look in pretty much everything he saw...

Happy National Hat Day . Because that’s a thing, and given my renewed obsession with hats, I really feel the need to celebrate this year. Hers and his hats I’ve always loved hats. They’re the perfect funky and unexpected accessory, the ultimate solution to a bad hair day (or a day you just don’t want to do your hair) and can dress up or down any outfit (depending on the hat). Most people are probably whining right now that they don’t look good in hats and are jealous of the fact that I do, and blah, blah, blah. People who think that simply have not tried on the right hat. There’s a hat for everyone out there you just have to find it. To find your perfect hat, you need to find a good haberdasher. That’s a fancy word for “hat maker.” My personal favorite in Chicago is Goorin Brothers . I first fell in love with them in New Orleans on a trip a few years ago. Now that they’re in Chicago it’s a little easier to get there and visit all my favorite hats, and lust after new ones....

The Fashion Bash is one hell of a party. Sparkles and brass knuckles Aside from the blasting dance music (yeah Madonna), the vendors, swag bag and food, there's also the booze. Sure it was supposed to just be samples, but by the time the other bloggers and I made our way through the racks to the Real Russian booth it was shots all around. Hosted by the Sassy City Chicks at Venue One in Chicago, I got my invite through the fab Chicago Blogger Network , who does a great job of letting bloggers know when something cool and relevant is going on, and making sure we get invites. Tons of jewelry and clothes, this shopping event was surely one to behold, and should not have been missed by a die-hard shopaholic. Most of the jewelry was amazing, unique pieces that truly were one of a kind.
