'Sole Sisters' films an obsession

I love film. Not because of anything shoe related, but on it's own. Movies are great. I don't watch TV, but I will sit down with a film every night. From dramas to foreign films, action and horror, I have found my niches and love them. A few months ago I was made aware of a film project that I have now been obsessively following via various social networks, and can't wait for it to come out. It's a documentary by Cynthia Salzman Mondell, an award winning independent filmmaker, and she is tackling the topic of shoes. Sole Sisters is the name of the project, and Mondell is talking to women about their shoes. The clever tagline reads "Every shoe has a story. Every woman has both." I cannot think of a more true statement, or a more fascinating topic. Mondell has been gathering women's stories about their shoes. What they mean. Why. Where they're from. She's collecting women's stories and creating a film. It's sort of like the non-narciss...

Shoe porn and barefeet

The other day I got a text from my brother-in-law. It said Vibram FiveFingers and then a link. Now, maybe there's something wrong with me, but my immediate thought was, "Why am I getting porn SPAM from the BIL?" Then I realized that texts aren't SPAM, and there's no way he'd send me porn (because that's weird) and it had to be something else. So I took a deep breath and clicked on the link. I'm pretty sure I would have rather seen porn. Instead there are pictures of people's feet adorned in those awful hobbit feet, rubber shoe things. Which I guess are kind of like porn because they're obscene looking, and kind of like a foot condom. I must have taken a while because then he sent a text, "Cat in fingers?" Ummm...no. I understand it's the closest thing to being barefoot, and that's good, and it's anatomically correct, and designer shoes are still more expensive and definitely not as comfy, but the fact remains th...

Gaga for Fashion

Late last night I was rotting around in front of the TV and saw the preview for the Lady Gaga and Beyonce video, Telephone . I decided to not move, and watch this very hyped and "scandalous" (thank you Ryan Seacrest) video. It was AMAZING. Well directed, tongue in cheek with great dancing and even better costumes. I should probably mention that as a child of the '80s I'm totally a sucker for a good music video, and I love Lady Gaga (which is my dirty little secret), and I love her fashion and wish I could dress like her. Plus Quentin Tarantino lent a hand on the video, which was awesome and immediately noted. And I love costumes. I would wear sequins, glitter and feathers all the time, but it's frowned upon at the office. I do love Gaga's costumes, especially in this video. I would wrap myself in police tape (which was designer ) and parade around in an amazing pair of shoes if I had 0% body fat like her. Which brings me to the shoes, that were amazing...
