Cat in Heels

Despite the fact that I love fashion, and blog, I am probably one of the least media consuming people. If it’s not on Facebook, Twitter or one of the many news sources I read every day, then I miss it. I don’t watch TV, or listen to the radio. When I do watch TV it’s either movies or The Soup on E! . I feel like then I know what’s going on without actually watching any of it. Kobi Levi shoes I would love to see on a person.  That all said it should come as no surprise that I don’t watch The View . In fact I’ve never seen an episode. Mostly because I work, so I'm busy at the time that it’s on, but also because I find it to be trivial and silly, and I’ve never heard a really interesting conversation that started with, “I was watching The View ...” So this afternoon when my friend texted me that I had to Google the shoes Whoopi Goldberg wore on The View today, I was somewhat skeptical. I am about to commit shoe-lover blasphemy. I have an opinion that goes against everything you've been told by bloggers all over. I don't care for ShoeMint . I'll give you a moment to clutch your pearls and call me some horrible names before proceeding with my argument. Wedge booties I've been wearing for months. First, let me say that I don't own any ShoeMint shoes, and I know nothing of their construction. They're probably great. I generally like Steve Madden  and I have plenty of his heels. In all honesty I had great hopes for ShoeMint . Steve Madden is great. Shoe clubs are cute, and I kind of love the idea of a celebrity collaboration. I let all my readers know, bought into the hype, and waited with bated breath for the big launch. At which point I then made a face and went, "That's it?" A friend recently posted a link on Facebook to a website called ifshoescouldkill.com . This is of course amazing, and I immediately had to look, and make mental notes of all the bizarre stuff on there, including the psuedo wearable. Then I saw a pair of shoes I actually own . Really. Right there on the page were my Iron Fist Zombie Stompers. Those are shoes that could kill? I understand that they're zombie print and all, and they have teeth, but really? Compared to the other shoes on the site, they're kind of tame. And if it's about heel height, my Aldo Mary Jane stilettos are way higher. I've even fallen over in those shoes and wrecked myself (in the shoe's defense, I had been drinking). If all it takes is a killer heel, and some kind of crazy print, I'm sure I have all sorts of crap that could land on this website. Other shoes on the website aren't even shoes, they're art. And not really wearable art either.  I wonder if Lady Gaga and I can...

Late last night I was rotting around in front of the TV and saw the preview for the Lady Gaga and Beyonce video, Telephone . I decided to not move, and watch this very hyped and "scandalous" (thank you Ryan Seacrest) video. It was AMAZING. Well directed, tongue in cheek with great dancing and even better costumes. I should probably mention that as a child of the '80s I'm totally a sucker for a good music video, and I love Lady Gaga (which is my dirty little secret), and I love her fashion and wish I could dress like her. Plus Quentin Tarantino lent a hand on the video, which was awesome and immediately noted. And I love costumes. I would wear sequins, glitter and feathers all the time, but it's frowned upon at the office. I do love Gaga's costumes, especially in this video. I would wrap myself in police tape (which was designer ) and parade around in an amazing pair of shoes if I had 0% body fat like her. Which brings me to the shoes, that were amazing...
