A few months ago I blogged about cap toe shoes, saying they're going to be the hot new thing, and they're amazing and here's why. Then I didn't hear anything about them for a while, and I thought maybe I was the only one in love with them.
Then last week I was on Twitter, taking part in the #stylechat with Style Caster, and the topic of conversation turned to shoes, and the cap toe trend, which has suddenly made its way from the designer's stores and into the mainstream, and now everyone wants them. I had quite a few questions about them, including where to find them (which is now almost anywhere).
As promised to the fabulous people on #stylechat, following are a few cap toe heels that are fabulous, available, and at varying price points, so there's no excuse to go into Fall without them.
At $39.95, ShoeDazzle probably has the best deal on a metallic cap toe. The "Ann" heel, which was released just a few days ago, comes in a faux suede in a variety of colors. If you're looking for a flat with the metallic peep toe, then ShoeDazzle has some of those as well. I also have a pair from them that have a hidden platform and are hot pink. You really can't go wrong with that.
If you want something with real leather, a little more metallic, and love the look of sleek black, Jeffrey Campbell made a cap toe too. And it's awesome (also in white). But really, what else would you expect from Jeffrey Campbell?
Anyone who follows me on Twitter or Facebook also knows that I'm wildly obsessed with the red python "Prue Pump" cap toe from Vince Camuto Signature. It also come in a white and gold, but for me it's really the textured red that makes this unique and amazing. Unfortunately, at over $250 it's a little out of my price range right now, but I'm saving.
Steve Madden has also jumped on this bandwagon, and offers a great variety of cap toe heels, including a couple different takes on the trend. Pointy or round toe, platform, pumps, and even flats, you can get just about anything. One fabulous choice is a nude platform heel with a black cap toe with quilted detail. He also has metallics available, but I think the ones with studs take the cake. That's right. Spikes comprising the cap toe on the "Boldd". Oh, and did I mention it comes in pony hair leopard?
Yeah, they're pretty much as good as bought.
Once you go beyond the $200 range, you can start getting into some pretty sweet shoes, and some pretty amazing designers. Brian Atwood, Stuart Weitzman, Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel have all made cap toe heels too. And if you can afford them that's awesome and they'll last you forever, and we all weep with jealousy.
If you're like the rest of us then the above selection is a pretty good starting point. And remember, that not all cap toes are metal (or metallic). There are plenty of great looking multi-colored cap toe heels, as well as the metallics, which really seem to be what everyone is drooling over this fall.
Honestly, the best part about this trend is that it's available pretty much anywhere. Zara has some great ones, Nordstrom carries just about every designer ever and has a great variety available, DSW online and in store have everything, and I got a Piperlime email that showed a pair I am thinking about ordering.
Point is, they're everywhere and you have no excuses not to immediately go out and buy some or order a pair online. Either way, you'll be outfitted by the end of the week and looking amazing.
